Example of the mouse pad

We started 10 years ago with our Rite n’ Roll mousepads. To cater for the increasing requests we have replaced these with the traditional mousepads. The trick was to find a reliable supplier for the non slip rubber base which we have now done. These are sized at 215 mm x 180 mm.

Proofing

July 22nd, 2009 · General, Other

Perfect Your Proofing

Proof reading can be a major source of conflict between customers and the printshop.

Here is an article with an overview on how to proofread.

You are in a rush so you just glance at the proof. Guess what there is always time to rerun when the print job is a mess but never enough time to proof read it properly the first time. Here is some tips on how to do this. Remember you may need additional steps as well.

Proof the copy also known as text.

This where you start on the copy/ text. Review this for spelling are you using the correct dictionary and regional spelling.   Then check the grammar,  punctuation, and most importantly, accuracy of content.  Making changes  later in the design process will only slow things down, so make sure that everything is perfect before moving on to the next step.

Proof the images.

Check the proof

Check the proof

Viewing the images on your computer is a great place to start,  but bear in mind that the colours shown on the screen will not be a perfect match to the colours that are finally printed. Be sure to check the size and resolution of the image. For high quality jobs, it is better to have a physical proof rather than just an on the screen proof of the images done on professional proofing equipment, you will get a better idea of the true colour of the piece.

Proof the pages.

Checking an entire page of an original can be done on screen, print out the page sometimes you can read it on the screen but it is too small or large on paper. Look over the typesetting, composition, image placement and text, as well as hyphenation and line line spacing,  formats and bleeds.

Assumptions.

Don’t assume anything if you are worried about a washed out look or fuzzy picture or funny font question it before the job goes to print.

The difference between a thorough proofing process and a quick  proof check is the time you may spend to redo a job. Do it right first time will save you time and money in the long run.
